Cupressus glabra 'Blue Ice'
Blue Ice Arizona Cypress
Description
If you need a powder blue columnar plant as an accent or a screen, here it is. The color is dazzling and 'Blue Ice' often leaves plant experts and novices speechless! Customers are drawn to examine the foliage and incredible blue cones up-close, as if to make sure that it is actually real. The silver-blue foliage rivals any conifer for color intensity, even the bluest Hoopsii. This selection of Arizona Cypress is very wind tolerant, hardy, and seems to be free of pests. This plant does require staking until it is established in the landscape. This specimen comes highly recommended!

Fagus sylvatica 'Purple Fountain'
Purple Fountain European Beech
Description
This tree has the form and growth rate of the Weeping Green European Beech at a young age. The purple foliage is retained throughout the growing season. This variety is relatively new, so its ultimate height and spread are in question; however, it appears to stay much narrower than the other forms of Weeping Beech. Our 'Purple Fountains' have been cut back and staked for fullness.

Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula'
Weeping Purple Beech
Description
Typical of the purple beach, the 'Purpurea Pendula' has rich, shiny plum colored leaves that emerge fairly late compared to other deciduous trees. 'Purpurea Pendula' grows smaller and more shrub-like than its larger, narrower counterpart 'Purple Fountain', reaching a mature height and spread of about 10-15'. The central leader is rarely significant; rather its mounding shape lends itself to being used on the top tier of a water feature or specimen for bonsai. We stake ours to height, then let them mound naturally.

Fagus sylvatica 'Rohanii'
Purple Oakleaf European Beech
Description
The margins of 'Rohanii' undulate like the 'Oakleaf Beech' (F.s. 'Quercifolia'), but are a strong purple similar to 'River's Copper Beech'. The color, while good, will fade slightly more than River's and changes to a dark green in the summer months. This is also a relatively large tree in time, although it takes quite a long time to reach its mature size. The habit is uniform and oval, making a magnificent statement when given ample room to grow.

Fagus sylvatica 'Spaethiana'
Spaeth European Beech
Description
This beautiful specimen tree from Germany has the deepest and darkest, long-lasting purple foliage color. This spectacular color lasts throughout the summer. The foliage breaks bud about a week later than most others do, which may be beneficial to areas with late frosts. A young 'Spaethiana' is very narrow, but will widen slowly with age. In a ten year period, one can expect 'Spaethiana' to grow about five feet.

Fagus sylvatica 'Tricolor'
Tricolor Beech, 'Roseomarginata'
Description
'Tricolor's' foliage mix of purple, pink, and white in the spring is dazzling; one of the most impressive of any foliage plant. Combining this desirable color scheme with the classic beech shape, this is a very sought after deciduous tree. Although the tree will attain considerable size in time, it has a very slow growth rate, similar to that of 'Spaethiana'. It takes time and a lot of shearing to get good branching on a young plant. The foliage display, however, is worth the wait!

Ginkgo biloba 'Saratoga'
Saratoga Ginkgo
Description
This male cultivar has a distinct central leader, with an upright compact habit that widens with age. 'Saratoga's' foliage is more deeply lobed than the species, giving it a pretty, lacier look. As its name implies, this is another selection from the Saratoga Horticultural Foundation, from 1975. It has the rich golden yellow fall color, typical of the species, with a dense, compact habit.

Juniperus chinensis 'Daub's Frosted'
Daub's Frosted Juniper
Description
The bright two-color effect of 'Daub's Frosted' makes this a very attractive plant. New growth is a lemon yellow color that contrasts superbly with the feathery, emerald green underside. Almost fluorescent, 'Daub's Frosted' grows very well in a site with full sun and well-drained soil, and looks perfect where a little bit of color is needed. We categorize 'Daub's Frosted' as a low-growing spreader.

Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip'
Blue Creeping Juniper
Description
At Bizon Nursery, we selected the 'Blue Chip' juniper to graft on three foot standard because of the way the branches turn up on the ends. 'Blue Chip' also has a particularly distinctive blue color that turns to purplish-plum in the winter. This plant will eventually mound to 12 inches or more before heading downward. 'Blue Chip' can tolerate very dry, poor, soil and should be planted in full sun.
