'Skylands' is a slow-growing, golden tree that has been very popular since its origination at Skyland Farms in New Jersey. It is especially nice when grown in partial shade, where the gold is not so bright, but rather a rich yellow-green. As with many of the Picea orientalis selections, 'Skyland' produces beautiful red cones in the spring and has short, densely packed needles. A 20-year-old tree will only be about eight feet tall.
