Cedrus libani 'Beacon Hill'
Beacon Hill Libani Cedar
Description
An attractive rival to the common weeping Atlas Cedar, no other Cedar weeps as gracefully as 'Beacon Hill'. The branching structure is more lateral than the Atlas Cedar with a much heavier interior and the actual height and width depend on its staking. The foliage has a glossy, light-green hue, and at maturity, 'Beacon Hill' will be a lovely, dense mound that will never outgrow its place in the landscape.

Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula'
Weeping Alaskan Cedar
Description
This green form of Weeping Alaskan Cedar develops into a pyramid of cascading branchlets and sweeping branches, often with multiple leaders. We, however, prune to maintain a single leader. 'Pendula' is the most commonly cultivated form of the species and is considered one of the finest weeping conifers for a specimen plant. When planted in a hedge situation, it creates a graceful curtain appearance and brings out the beauty of everything planted in front of it. Similar in size to the 'Glauca Pendula' though not as dense.

Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Variegata'
Variegated Alaskan Cedar
Description
This variegated nootkatensis has blue-green foliage that is interlaced with creamy white to yellow specks throughout, giving it a vivid contrast from most other conifers. We have observed that the growth habit is full, like the species, and have found no variance whether grown in full or partial sun. 'Variegata' is a fast growing conifer and will achieve a height of approximately 60 feet at maturity when planted in its preferred conditions.

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Aurea Nana'
Golden Dwarf Hinoki Cypress
Description
Often confused with C.n. 'Aurea', 'Aurea Nana' is a slow, very compact form of Hinoki. Twelve-year-old stock is on average only eight feet high. The variation is a result of differing propagation origins, vigor, soil conditions, and other cultural factors. 'Aurea Nana' is a stunning tree, with bright gold foliage livening the twisted, fan-shaped branchlets, and contrasting beautifully with the dark green interiors. 'Aurea Nana' has an elegant sculpted shape that should be grown in full sun for best color. Zone 4 - 8

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Blue Feathers'
Dwarf Blue Hinoki Cypress
Description
'Blue Feathers' is a compact dwarf Hinoki with dense blue foliage that stays juvenile, giving it a very soft appearance. This feathery foliage twists up to expose the bluish underside of each leaf. We prune ours into a pyramid, making this obtusa very attractive. Its dwarf classification is given because 'Blue Feather' grows only approximately two to four inches each year, when established. Because it was found as a sport by Ivan Arneson in 1979, it is also known as 'Ivan's Column'. Zone 4 - 8

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Compacta'
Compact Hinoki Cypress
Description
This obtusa is one of the nicest grown. Its color is rich and dark, like the very best of Hinokis. Because this variety is semi-dwarf, it is an excellent choice where other Hinokis would be too large. 'Compacta' also has the advantage of looking like a mature specimen with a dwarf-like form, without taking an extended amount of time to achieve it. Zone 4 - 8

'Confucius' is one of the best of the new golden Hinoki's. It has recently originated from New Zealand and is rapidly gaining popularity with growers and landscapers, due to its vigor and beauty. A faster growing plant than 'Aurea Nana', this variety has bright lemon-yellow foliage on the outer most foliage that lays over emerald green and gold on the interior. Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Fernspray Gold'
Fernspray Gold Hinoki Cypress
Description
'Fernspray Gold' has bright yellow foliage with a form reminiscent of a fern frond. This plant is similar in appearance to 'Tetragona Aurea', though has a broader growth habit. At Bizon Nursery, we top shear this plant when young to promote fullness. In doing so, the beautiful arching branchlets fountain from the plant's center. This variety of golden Hinoki can be grown in full sun when given adequate moisture. Note: The containers are graded by height and width.

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Gold Drop'
Compact Hinoki Cypress
Description
'Gold Drop' has a compact globular to flat-topped habit with greenish-yellow foliage. It is a preferred plant for locations where one wants a well-formed specimen that will not outgrow its location in a short amount of time. The name of this dwarf Hinoki is a bit misleading - the gold influence is not strong. 'Green Drop' would be a more appropriate name. The foliage is intricate and lacy, so much so that it is surprising to some that it does not burn in full sun.

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Graciosa'
Graciosa Compact Hinoki Cypress
Description
'Graciosa' was developed in Europe where it was first observed as a sport on 'Nana Gracilis'. 'Graciosa' grows much quicker, with the growth rate and habit being similar to the Compact Hinoki Cypress, but has more finely cut foliage which gives it a delicate appearance. The lighter green, lacy looking foliage is very attractive and presentable with only light shearing. It attains a broad, conical shape and prefers full sun with well-drained soil.
